WHY SMOKEY?

When creating the name Smokey Blu's we wanted to emphasize that our main focus was QUALITY.  It was important for our customers to know our Jerky is Smoked not Dehydrated. 

The biggest difference between Smokey Blu's beef jerky and low-end jerky is how it’s made. Most brands you find today is dehydrated. While dehydrating meat is the easiest way to make jerky, it doesn’t result in the best beef jerky.  

It’s a matter of quality over quantity 

Dehydrated jerky can be like old shoe leather – tough, dry and cracked. We’ve all had our share of this kind of jerky. It’s fine when you’re on a long road trip and in a pinch for whatever jerky you can get your hungry hands on, but it’s ultimately a disappointing snack.

Smoking jerky, however, seals in the meat’s juices while providing just the right amount of hickory-smoked flavor. Moist and chewy – almost like a decadent meat licorice – smoked jerky is the best beef jerky you’ll ever sink your teeth into.

When it comes to making the best jerky, using the right cut of meat is crucial. The other critical factor? Using premium gourmet meat.

As mentioned before, a lot of commercial jerky contains additives and fillers. In general, these are all not great. Smokey Blu's beef jerky, however, comes from cows that are steroid- and hormone-free, and are raised humanely – not factory farmed. As more and more Americans are becoming increasingly health-conscious and curious as to where their food really comes from, “healthy jerky” has become a thing. While snacking on beef jerky is usually a better choice than eating a bag of potato chips or a pint of ice cream, not all jerky is equally “healthy.” 

When it comes to “healthy jerky,” the meat source and what’s added matters. And, of course, if it’s smoked jerky… it’s just that much better. 

WHY BLU's

We wanted our name to also reflect how Smokey Blu's values everyone of our customers. We would NEVER sell a product to anyone that we wouldn't feed to to our family. If you are not happy with our Jerky than neither are we. 

 The name BLU's is not one dimensional.  

Driving home one day I heard a song on the radio that grabbed my attention. I had to find out who this was. I pulled over and googled a few lyrics to the chorus and there it was. Blue October and the song was "Hate Me"  I instantly became a huge fan.  After following them and meeting them personally I saw how much they love and care to their fan base .

Moving forward :

Our household added a new member into our family. A beautiful Black English Labrador. I knew right away her name was going to be Blue after the band I fell so in love with.  I wanted her name to be original so I dropped the "E" and her name is Blu.

"Smokey Blu's" was a perfect name to express how much this company cares about every product and you our customer.
